THE VALENTINE’S SERIES: TWO.
At a time where our next moves are especially unpredictable, it’s reassuring to know that I can count on you. Your love is comforting, safe. You demonstrate finesse in the way you care for me, fluid movements as if you’ve performed this dance many times before. To experience you the way that I do in this lifetime is proof of a higher power that favors me. The feeling is reminiscent of a summer day, bare feet to soil. You’re the sun against my exposed skin, warming me with a heat I feel from the inside out. I absorb your love, glowing differently as a result. Looking back at the way we met, I wouldn’t have predicted that we’d be here, in love, almost a year later. A groupchat here, a brunch there, and here we are. I wouldn’t change anything about our interactions, cognizant of the many butterflies that had their effect on our meeting. The moments in which I’m not in your arms, you inhabit my dreams. I’m unsure of who I envy more; the version of me that loves you physically, or the subconscious version that experiences you beyond earthly limits. I pray you’re able to feel the love I give you with your whole being. I hope the feeling is one you’re able to think of when you’re looking for a pick-me-up, tugging at your lips with a smile when you need it. February 14th is one day out of the year, but every day I wake up is a new day to show love in the way you desire. To know you is to love you, and I cannot wait to spend our time together knowing and loving you more each day.
From your mustard to my ketchup, Happy Valentine’s Day.
